Meet the Photographer -
Dennis Tooshkanov is a New York–based photographer, visual artist, and founder of Arie Photostudio. His work spans fine art, portraiture, fashion, architecture, and editorial photography, bringing together a refined visual sensibility with a distinctly cinematic approach.
Through dramatic contrasts, precise composition, and an attentive use of light and shadow, he transforms both the human figure and the urban landscape into studies of presence, identity, and atmosphere.
Working across traditional photography and emerging visual technologies, Tooshkanov also explores AI-assisted image-making as an extension of his creative practice.
His portfolio includes portraits of artists and public figures, fashion and editorial projects, cultural events, and visual studies of New York City. Across these different subjects, his work remains connected by a search for the moment when an image moves beyond documentation and becomes a story.

This exhibition brings together thirty-five black-and-white works that explore the relationship between the individual and the city. Moving between architecture, street photography, portraiture, and fashion, the collection presents New York not simply as a backdrop, but as a living presence shaped by movement, memory, light, and human experience.
Throughout the exhibition, monumental buildings rise through fog, familiar streets become nearly silent, and figures emerge from crowds, reflections, and shadows. The city and the human form repeatedly mirror one another: architectural lines echo the contours of the body, while gestures, expressions, and clothing become structures of their own. Light connects these different worlds, revealing certain details while allowing others to remain hidden.
Together, the works create a visual journey between intimacy and scale, stillness and motion, visibility and mystery. Rather than offering a single narrative, the exhibition invites viewers to move through a series of encounters each image capturing a moment in which a person, a place, or a fleeting gesture becomes something more enduring.
