David Gardner
Meet David Gardner
“When I was 5, I pestered my mother to let me use her Brownie medium format until she gave in. The results were nothing to write home about; at best, I was able to faithfully reproduce a scene. Nevertheless, I was fascinated by the process. I pushed a button, and weeks later I saw the image I had framed in the viewfinder on paper.
That fascination has continued, through years of learning and practice, through decades of technological changes. I’m only beginning my latest project, a series of quadtychs depicting different implementations of a central theme.
I started out as a strictly color photographer. Although I’ve become a black & white artist, mostly as a result of working with large format, color is still integral to much of my work.” - David Gardner, Statement
